The Australian Mathematics Curriculum: Where did we go wrong? Where can we go right?
This past month ACARA began its review of the Australian Curriculum: Mathematics to "refine, realign and declutter" the content. This was most likely due to Australia's poor showing on recent international tests in mathematics. The original standards were written with the intention of addressing the "inch deep and mile wide" curricula that each state had at that time. It’s aim was to provide greater focus to key content where it mattered most, while also freeing up teachers' time. Unfortunately, they missed the mark. Read more

ACER and CSU new post grad teaching partnership
Charles Sturt and the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) have joined forces to offer ACER graduates fast-tracked entry into two of the University’s master’s degrees.
   The flexible, self-paced, online Graduate Certificate in Education, offered by ACER, can now be used as a pathway for entry into Charles Sturt’s Master of Education or Master of Inclusive Education.
   Dr Brendon Hyndman, Course Director of Postgraduate Studies in Education at Charles Sturt, said the University looked forward to welcoming ACER graduates into the two master’s courses. Read more
