Returning students' mental health needs monitoring
A Macquarie University survey that found 60 per cent of parents and 88 per cent of teachers are concerned about children’s mental health during the COVID-19 crisis.
   With children returning to school, the university has launched a new website for teachers and parents to support those with mental health concerns including anxiety and depression. 
   Macquarie’s Centre for Emotional Health and School of Education surveyed students, parents, carers, teachers, schools and health professionals, and identified the need for a comprehensive online resource. Read more

New online platform to support the autistic in classrooms
inclusionED is a new online professional learning community for Australian educators, a step towards creating inclusive classrooms for all learners, including those with learning difficulties or neurodevelopmental disabilities.
   The inclusionED platform assists educators to support their students, whether they are at school or learning from home.
   Delivered through a collaboration between the Autism Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) and Queensland University of Technology (QUT), the platform provides evidence-based and research informed teaching practices, videos, printable templates and other resources. Read more

Australia's best early childhood educators awarded
Exceptional early childhood professionals are being sought as nominations open for the 2020 HESTA Early Childhood Education & Care Awards.
   The annual Awards, which have a $30,000 prize pool up for grabs, recognise early childhood educators and carers who have demonstrated excellence in improving learning outcomes for children.
   “The role early educators and carers play in a child’s physical, social, emotional and cognitive development is critical,” HESTA CEO Debby Blakey said.
